Our Adoption Journey: Fundraising

Timelines

Ethiopia Timeline
*April 2011- Started researching adoption
*May 2011- Chose America World
*May 16th- Submitted application to AWAA
*May 26th- Accepted into the AWAA Ethiopian Program
*May 31st- Sent contract to AWAA
*June 7th- Received Home Study packet from our Social Worker
*June 8th- Received our Dossier packet from our Family Coordinator
*June 8th- Officially starting our dossier.
*June 14th- Went to Vital Records for our birth certificates and to the court for our marriage certificate. Jay applied for his passport and Stina had her physical.
*July 6th- Jay received his passport.
*October 11th- Our first Homestudy appointment.
* November 1st- Second Home Stud
* March 15- Home Study complete and Certified by the State
*April 2012- Applied and approved for a concurrent adoption.
* April 30th-ET Dossier is ready to go....waiting on our USCIS approval.....
*June 6th- Received our USCIS approval
*June 7th- Fed Ex'd our Dossier to AWAA
*June 11th- Our Family Coordinator called. Our Dossier has been approved and we will have a DTE date of 6/15/12!!!
*June 15th- DTE!!!

Haiti Timeline
*March 25th-30th- Stina went on a mission trip to Haiti and fell in love with the country and people.
* April 2012- Applied for a concurrent adoption with AWAA
*April 16th- Accepted into the AWAA Haiti Program
*April 26th- Received the Dossier paperwork. Starting the paperchase all over again.
*May 10th- Met with our awesome social worker to update our Home Study to include our Haiti adoption.
*May 11th- Stina is going back to Haiti with AWAA. Ticket booked!! Counting down the days.
*May 29th -June 2nd- Stina went to Haiti.
*June 6th- Received Dr. letter and it was approved for the Home Study. As soon as our Home Study is certified we can receive a referral!!!!
*June 11th- Home Study has been completed and approved!
*June 20th- I600 sent to USCIS
*July 17th- Contacted USCIS to check status. Our approval is in the mail!
* July 19th- Received approval!
* July 27th- Sent our dossier to AWAA
* September 4th- Accepted referral for "M"
* September 14th- Entered IBESR for "M"
* September 16th- Found out that we need another dossier for "B" and got it done in less than 24 hours!
* Septmeber 22nd-September 28th- Stina went to Haiti to love on the kids and hand deliver dossier for "B"
* October 19th- Entered IBESR for "B"
*November 17th-22nd- Embassy trip. Jay's first trip to Haiti.
* December 19th-25th- Christmas in Haiti.
* January 25th- Exit IBESR for M
* February 2nd-6th- Stina went to Haiti
*February 8th- Exit IBESR for B
